"I've created Nico Dico as a training project.
The idea was simple: instead of learning by heart tons of generic vocabulary, that you don't know when you will need, Nico Dico allows the user to create their own vocabulary lists,
and it creates custom quizzes that the user can tweak. Then, their progress is tracked. This way, the user can focus their learning on what they really need, when they need it.
I wanted to create a tool that would help me improve my skills in the languages I learn, by helping me memorizing vocabulary I hear during informal conversations.
I thought it would be an easy junior developer project, but I didn't know at the time it would be such a challenge!
I hope you will enjoy using this website as much a I enjoyed making it. Cheers!"
What does "NicoDico" mean?
NicoDico is a Japanese/French play on words. Niconicosuru(ニコニコする) means to smile in Japanese, and Dico is the short version of Dictionnaire in French, which means dictionary.
